Founded in 2000, Assistiveware is a company that offers multiple solutions to support people with communication issues. The company successfully established itself as a leading pioneer of assistive technology for iOS and macOS with over half a million customers worldwide.
My Role
My task was to:
- Create UX deliverables and perform user testing for their new to be launched App on iOS, for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support daily communication for adults, teens, and children
- Setting up Design System for consistency and scalability
- Deliver and optimize flows and components for their website
Challenges
- Designing for a target group that is so diverse, but also has a special need, requires knowledge and collaboration with professionals.
I learned a lot about the needs of these users and what works and what doesn’t. about existing patterns and knowledge. - I needed to elaborate on the knowledge and quality in house with regard to AAC, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and expand this for the required new functionality.
- Learn and listen to professionals in the field as AAC requires special skills.
- But also learned a lot about following the iOS Human Interface Guidelines with dark and light mode. Those
